Research Interests

During his PhD, he will focus on the Very High Cycle Fatigue behavior of micro molded samples (cross section 130µm x 260µm), made of Al-bronze. Size effects are expected to dominate reliability of those samples. The results will be compared to the behavior of pure material such as aluminum or copper. We are developing a custom built micro-sample fatigue setup in order to conduct life-time experiments. The interpretation of these results will help understanding the active fatigue mechanisms and their sensitivity on sample geometry and frequency in micro molded specimens as well as in metallic MEMS and coatings.
